Social media giant, Twitter, has suspended a fake account opened and operated in the name of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Recall that ASUU had on several occasion raised the alarm that it does not operate a Twitter account, calling for its suspension.
But, the account, @ASUUNGR, had continued to tweet to the public activities of the union and was very active during the recently suspended strike.
However, recent checks by CAMPUS GIST shows that the micro-blogging platform has now yield to the call of ASUU and suspended the account.
According to Twitter, the account with over 800,000 followers was suspended for violating it’s community rules.
It is not immediately clear if the account would be reinstated. But further checks by CAMPUS GIST shows that the owner may have flout a new or backup handle.
